In an unfortunate sequence of events, a Kenyan man found himself in court after being caught stealing chewing gum from his employer.
Paul Kipyegon Rono pleaded guilty of stealing from Mutai Enterprise at a magistrates court in Bomet town, Kenya. The owner of the shop told the court that he noticed that the gum was missing and suspected the accused. His suspicion increased when Mr Rono, pockets bulging, asked to use the lavatory. On his departure the employer followed him and found an dodgy exchange with a butcher who then alerted him to the deed.
The magistrate fined him Sh20,000 or six months behind bars. As he could not raise the money, he was escorted to Bomet GK prison to commence his sentence. Source: Daily Nation
