Rwanda's national carrier, RwandAir has received a certificate of safety worthiness from IATA and been named one of the world's safest airlines
RwandAir has been named among the safest airlines in the world by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The national carrier was awarded a certificate of safety worthiness after passing the IATA operational audit (IOSA) making RwandAir eligible to fly to any part of the world.
IATA vice-president, Raphael Kuuchi said that the country’s aviation industry is set to play an important role in Rwanda’s economic development. This was during a handing over of the certificate at the Kigali International Airport.
This recognition also allows RwandAir to enter into code share deals with five-star airlines without any restrictions.
The IATA audit is a globally recognised evaluation system that evaluates the operational management and control systems of an airline.
