I trained killbeat - Kaywa

Celebrated Ghanaian music producer Kaywa real name David Kyei has disclosed that the R2bees group now manned by Paedae and Mugeez was birthed in his studio adding that when Tema could not boast of any hit making sound engineer he emerged to save the city from perpetual shame.

Kaywa opined that in the beginning times were tough but the zeal to succeed fueled the desire of himself and the guys leading to the earlier hits of the group.

The man who earned Producer of the Year award two years in a row at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards also disclosed that he trained Killbeatz, Ephraim and other sound engineers gaining ground now stressing that he can’t be envious of their successes as everyone has his style.

Mr. Kyei made these known to Giovani Caleb on his Late Night Celebrity Show recounting that when the Tema studios were not attracting musicians because of the lack of hits, he was also encouraged to set up in Accra but resisted the urge and is now proud about the elevation Tema is enjoying thanks to its music success.

‘Ka s3 Kaywa’ handled the production of hits like ‘Where my baby dey’ by Samini, ‘Do Da Dance’ by Castro and Asamoah Gyan, ‘Bye Bye’ by Asem and ‘Bibini Ba’ by Kwabena Kwabena as well as a host of others.

At the tender age of six, Kaywa played the drums, and later picked up incredible skills on the piano that were largely self-taught leading to his current job.
