Kenya has banned the adoption of its children by foreigners,
according to the government, this is in a bid to curb child trafficking.
The decision came after a cabinet meeting chaired
by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday which saw the immediate revocation of
the licenses of persons involved in inter-country adoptions
“the decision has been informed by Kenya’s ranking
by Global report on trafficking in persons 2014 that cited Kenya as a source,
transit and destination country in human trafficking”, said a memo from the
cabinet.
According to a 2014 US State Department report on
trafficking in persons, Kenya is ranked at Tier 2 watchlist for non-complience
