Fake doctor arrested in Kumasi


A 27 year-old man, who allegedly posed as a medical doctor and sent the Police on a wild goose chase, has found himself in the grips of the law. Kwabena Boateng, unemployed had presented himself to the Police as a doctor working at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and claimed to have been attacked and robbed of his Toyota Highlander with registration number GT 9843 – 14 near the Georgia Hotel in Kumasi. -
The suspect alleged that the robbers, numbering six, also robbed him of GH¢900 and two mobile phones.
Police Chief Superintendent George Tweneboah, Divisional Commander of Kumasi Central, briefing the press said Police personnel quickly mobilized and rushed to the said crime scene with Boateng. That was the last time they either saw or heard from him. Their checks at KATH later revealed that he was not a staff of the referral facility and they launched a manhunt, tracking him down to his hiding place at Tetrem in the Amansie-West District. The suspect is being held in Police custody and would be arraigned as soon as they finished with their investigation. The suspect has confessed to inventing the story of robbery attack.
