Chris wins Vodafone Icons Remix Edition 2014

Christian Owusu popularly known as Chris, has emerged the overall winner of the 2014 Vodafone Icons Remix Edition at the end of the 13 weeks competition.

He beat Titi and Alice to win the ultimate prize of a brand new Nissan Qashqui, a recording contract with one of the world’s biggest record label, Universal Music and cash prizes all valued at GHC100, 000.

The grand final which took place at the National Theatre in Accra started with performances from the judges; Gina West and award winning Ghanaian rapper, Manifest who thrilled the enthusiastic crowd in the auditorium to some good music.

Chris who competed with four other contestants Titi, Cena, Ratty and Alice outshined the others right from the start of the competition when he performed the song “Ada” by the Nigerian Artiste Flavour. Dressed in red and white Nigerian attire, he was supported by four male dancers and an amazing female choreographer who thrilled the enthusiastic crowd in the auditorium.

The eviction of fine singer Cina, after the first round came as a shock to many. Cina, described as “technically the best singer in the competition”, performed very well on the night singing ‘’Chandelier’’ by Sia but public votes failed her as she did not garner enough votes to see her through to the final round.

The remaining three then performed their original singles which erupted the whole auditorium to the admiration of the fans and the judges. However the performance by Chris overshadowed the others and thus was adjudged the winner for the day.

Earlier guest artiste, Wiyaala, dazzled the audience with an electrifying performance.

Agnes Emefa Essah, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana assured that Vodafone will continue to support Chris to become the star he wants to be.

FIFA ranks Vincent Enyeama 4th Best Goalkeeper In The World

Isn’t there a mistake? Shouldn’t he be number one considering Enyeama`s brilliant performance for the super Eagles as the last man standing? Anyone working for Nigeria should be given extra extra extra credit.. But it’s alright.

Vincent is another goalkeeper who arrived after a record-breaking season at club level.
Enyeama carried on the form that made him nigh-on unbeatable for Lille, pulling off a series of extraordinary saves, starting in the first match against Iran, when Nigeria dominated but would have lost if the goalkeeper had not kept enough concentration to tip away a header from Reza Ghoochannejhad

He then kept Bosnia-Herzegovina at bay before thwarting Lionel Messi and Argentina for long periods despite conceding three. When a goalkeeper falls below perfection, however, he can be punished severely and Enyeama’s mishandling of a cross against France enabled Paul Pogba to score the winning goal and ruined another otherwise immaculate performance.
Goalkeeper Vincent has been able to make several breathtaking safes during the 2014 world cup and as such FIFA ranked him number 4 in world. Manuel Neuer of Germany(one of the German machines that ended Brazil’s world cup destiny) is however ranked number 1 in the world. see the full list of goalkeepers below..

Full List
1. Manuel Neuer, Germany
2. Guillermo Ochoa, Mexico
3. Keylor Navas, Costa Rica
4. Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria
5. Tim Howard, USA
6. Rais M’Bolhi, Algeria
7. Júlio César, Brazil
8. Thibaut Courtois, Belgium
9. David Ospina, Colombia
10. Tim Krul, Holland

Florida Police Shoot At Unarmed Man Speeding Home To Save His Daughter From Asthma Attack

While rushing home to obtain his daughter’s asthma medication, Brian Dennison, 29, was shot at by a Jacksonville sheriff, J.C Garcia. At the last-minute the officer was able to divert his weapon after and Dennison was unharmed. Dennison’s daughter, who was in the back seat, was suffering from an asthma attack at the time of the pursuit and was also unharmed.
According to the official police report, Officer Garcia spotted Dennison speeding through a parking lot to avoid a red light. The officer then attempted to pull Dennison’s car over for numerous traffic violations but Dennison continued to keep driving.  Dennison drove into an apartment complex and parked when Officer Garcia, believing Dennison was armed, fired his weapon. At the last moment, he was able to divert his weapon and avoided a possible fatality.
Dennison was then arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. Garcia has not been suspended or placed on any type of restricted duty.
Thankfully, Dennison and his daughter weren’t harmed in this situation. But if Officer Garcia hadn’t been able to divert his weapon,, we would have been at yet another march, mourning the loss of a young black man killed by the police. Clearly, it is time to take a real look at police training, the use of weapons in arrest and culture or immediate suspicious that has been cultivated around Black males in this country.

I deserve to be in prison – Lord Kenya

Superstar rapper turned Evangelist Lord Kenya says he deserved to be in prison for crimes he committed during his days as a rap artist.
“But for His grace, I should have been there. I deserved to be there. 100 per cent,” Kenya confessed while contributing to Joy FM’s entertainment show, Rhythmz A-Z.
The show hosted by Mamavi delved into the use of drugs by artists in the entertainment industry.
The discussion was sparked by the arrest and prosecution of Kwaw Kesse on charges of smoking substances suspected to be marijuana.
Lord Kenya said he was introduced to the recreational drugs by a friend and for 13 years he became addicted to the illegal substances.
He said he started with weed, graduated to coke and went into a cocktail of other illegal substances.
Kenya said he became so much addicted that without smoking he could not eat. That affected his lifestyle, he admitted.
He said he started beating up his step mom, fighting with police and dealt ruthlessly with event organisers who attempted to cheat him.
In his addiction, he said he knew within him that it was not a worthy lifestyle, claiming that he could lock himself in a room the whole day and cry.
Apparently Kenya was not only into drugs. He said when he visited inmates in one of the prisons to celebrate his four years anniversary in Christ, he saw pasted on the walls of the prison 15 crimes that could lead a person into jail.
“Out of the 15, I committed about 12 of them,” he confessed, adding, “I should have been in prison.”

Lesbian woman sues US sperm bank after giving birth to a mixed-race child

A white woman in Ohio is suing a sperm bank because she says staff mistakenly gave her vials of semen from an African-American donor after she had requested samples from a white man.
Jennifer Cramblett used the services of the Downers Grove-based Midwest Sperm Bank in 2011 and successfully became pregnant.
She is now raising her two-year-old mixed-race daughter with her same-sex partner, Amanda Zinkon, in Uniontown, Ohio.
Although she became aware of the mix-up when she was pregnant in April 2012, Cramblett says that she has decided to sue the sperm bank now because she has experienced difficulties in the child’s upbringing in a predominantly all-white community – which she describes in the lawsuit as ‘too racially intolerant’.
She is suing for ‘wrongful birth’ and ‘breach of warranty’, saying that she has suffered emotional and economic losses.
The lawsuit, which was republished by the Sun Sentinel, can be read in its entirety here. It states, ‘On August 21, 2012, Jennifer gave birth to Payton, a beautiful, obviously mixed-race baby girl.
‘Jennifer bonded with Payton easily and she and Amanda love her very much. Even so, Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties and uncertainty about her future and Payton’s future.’
The lawsuits says that the women became aware of the problem when they contacted the clinic to enquire about getting more samples from the same donor, with a view to Zinkon also conceiving a child.
The lawsuit suggests that the error was due to the clinic hand-labeling samples in pen and ink instead of printing clear electronic labels: Cramblett was sent samples from donor ‘330’ instead of donor ‘380’.
When the error became apparent, the clinic wrote a letter of apology and issued Cramblett with a refund for the sperm samples that she had already purchased.
The lawsuit says that because of Cramblett’s upbringing, where family members expressed stereotypical attitudes around non-white people, she has ‘limited cultural competency relative to African Americans’ and is undergoing a ‘steep learning curve.’
‘As just one example, getting a young daughter’s hair cut is not particularly stressful for most mothers, but to Jennifer it is not a routine matter, because Payton has hair typical of an African American girl. To get a decent cut, Jennifer must travel to a black neighborhood, far from where she lives, where she is obviously different in appearance, and not overtly welcome.’
Cramblett believes her child’s welfare and psychological well-being would be improved if the family moved to a more racially diverse area, and that she feels particular stress at the thought of sending her to an all-white school.
In an interview with NBC News, Cramblett said that she had initially been ‘mad’ with the sperm bank for being negligent, and was then upset because she felt they didn’t seem to care about her feelings and emotions.
In talking about the reasons for launching the lawsuit, she said, ‘We decided we had to take this into our hands because… I’m not going to sit back and let this happen to anyone every again.
‘You can’t just do that and say, “Well you got a baby… so you should be happy. Lesbian couples can’t get a baby anyway… you should be happy you have a healthy child”. I am happy that I have a healthy child. We love her more to this day, she’s made us the people that we are, never trade her for the world… but I’m not going to let them get away with not being held accountable.’
The Midwest Sperm Bank has declined to comment on the lawsuit.

“Sex attacker” losses penis.

The intended victim was saved after her screams were heard by passers by in north-western city of Ganganagar.
They allegedly found the 40-year-old suspected attacker pinning the girl to a wall, and dragged him away for a 'vigilante community meeting'.
Locals then took him to a butcher's shop where he was beaten, before his genitals were brutally chopped off with a meat cleaver.
The man is being treated in hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
A photo showing the severed appendance has been released, but is too graphic to be published.
A witness said: "No one went to help the man because they could see his penis on the ground and knew this was punishment for a sex crime.
"We have had a lot of intolerable offences against women in this country recently, with girls being raped, hung, and molested, and it's time it stopped.
"This sends out a very strong message to anyone like that - if you do it you will be punished."

But the police have called for those responsible to come forward.
A spokesman said: "People cannot take the law into your own hands.
"As deplorable as these crimes are, law and order has to be maintained, and not lynch justice. We ask those men who carried out this attack to hand themselves in before we find them."
The teenage girl has been treated for shock, and given counselling.
India has seen a spate of high profile violent attacks on women in recent years.
In 2012, a 23-year-old woman died after being attacked and gang-raped on a bus in Delhi in a case which sent shockwaves around the world.
The attack sparked a wave of protests across India.
In May, two young girls were found hanged from a tree in the state of Uttar Pradesh, amid reports they had been sexually assaulted.

Kenya Ban Foreign Adoptions

The Kenyan government has banned the foreign adoption of its children. Following a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the license of people involved in these type of adoption was revoked immediately.
Kenya has banned the adoption of its children by foreigners, according to the government, this is in a bid to curb child trafficking.
The decision came after a cabinet meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday which saw the immediate revocation of the licenses of persons involved in inter-country adoptions
“the decision has been informed by Kenya’s ranking by Global report on trafficking in persons 2014 that cited Kenya as a source, transit and destination country in human trafficking”, said a memo from the cabinet.
According to a 2014 US State Department report on trafficking in persons, Kenya is ranked at Tier 2 watchlist for non-complience with minimum standards for elimination of trafficking.

HIV offender nurse released from jail

A Ugandan court has released a woman who was convicted of attempting to infect a child with the HIV virus by pricking her with a contaminated needle
Rosemary Namubiru was convicted in May for pricking a baby with an HIV infected device which she’d first used on herself. Her release follows a successful appeal challenging her conviction and three-year sentence.
In her appeal, according to the daily monitor, she insisted that her conviction and sentence were too harsh for her and that the trial magistrate Olive Kazarwe failed to properly evaluate the evidence on record and reached a wrong conclusion.
The presiding judge Albert Rugadya Atwooki found that her three-year conviction was excessive and ordered her immediate release from Luzira prison.
“I was satisfied nonetheless that the circumstance of this case require a sentence which is lighter than the meted out by the trial court. The ground of appeal on sentence therefore succeeds to that extent. The appellant is thereby sentenced to such a period of imprisonment as shall enable her go home immediately, I so order”.

"Why i almost killed the 18-month-old Baby" - Ugandan Nanny Finally Open up

Arnella Kamanzi, the 18-month-old baby who was tortured by a maid early this month was yesterday admitted at the pediatric section in Mulago Hospital for further medical examinations.
"The baby was brought here for examinations and a number of tests will be done to establish whether she is in good health," confirmed a source at the national referral hospital.
Jolly Tumuhiirwe, the maid who is the main actress in the 'horror movie' has been charged with attempted murder and she is due to appear in court on Dec. 08, 2014.
Speaking from Luzira prison, Jolly Tumuhiirwe has asked the 'world' to forgive her for what she did..she said;

"My dad in Kabale was very sick and yet my mom did not have any money. I asked my bosses for some money to send to my dad but they told me that I hadn't made a month yet and my father was dying, so it kept on haunting me."
"That is the more reason I referred the anger to the baby but I'm sorry. But that madam (Arnella's mom) is not easy. She used to say that I steal money from the clothes and Eric's wallet, I eat the babies food...and yet I can't eat the food, I'm not a baby, those were all lies, so, I was also not happy from my heart."
"I feel guilty..ok when I was doing it I thought I was disciplining the baby because also the mother sometimes slaps her, I also saw from the mom. The torch I used was small and it's not hard. I think, I will never do it again"
..of her experience in Prison, she said;
"It's not good at all even my fellow prisoners don't want to associate with me, they want to beat me up. In fact they were saying that I should join them in their rooms, nobody likes me and I'm feeling bad I will never do it again, I ask the world to forgive me and also tell the bosses who have maids to treat them well."

Armed robber kills University Student

A Nigerian student has been killed and two others sustained various degrees of injury when three armed men allegedly attacked their Accra New Town residence at dawn yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nazifi Osman Muhammed, 27. He was reportedly stabbed in the stomach and the chest by the robbers who were all masked.
The injured were Jamiru Osman, 23, and Mustapha Musa, 22, who are receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The three, according to reports, are all Information Communication Technology (ICT) students of Sikkim Manipul University, located at Circle, Accra.
Meanwhile, the Kotobabi police have arrested one out of the three men who allegedly attacked the students.
The suspect, whose name is being withheld and currently in police custody, was arrested by neighbours and later handed over to the police, according to reports.
The Kotobabi District Police Commander, DSP Elizabeth Tiekuwaa Dankwa, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, said the suspect was yet to be interrogated by the police.
“Suspect was apprehended hours after the robbery attack by residents when he was passing in front of the house, on suspicion that he might be one of the suspects, but it is the duty of the police to confirm that through investigations.
“We are keeping him in our custody to assist us in our investigations,” she added.
Briefing the paper about the attack, DSP Dankwah said the incident occurred at about 3:30 am.
Police received a report from Mustapha Musa, one of the victims, that while they were asleep at Accra Newtown three masked men armed with a kitchen knife attacked and inflicted knife wounds on them.
He continued that his brothers, Nazifi Osman Muhammed and Jamiru Osman, were stabbed in the chests and the stomachs but he only sustained wounds on the hands.
“Complainant said they were all rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment by neighbours but Nazifi was pronounced dead by doctors on arrival at the health facility while Jamiru, who was unconscious, was admitted,”
the police officer narrated.
The body of Nazifi has since been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile, further information gathered by the paper indicated that the armed robbers had a hint that the victims had received $4,000 dollars from their elder brother in Nigeria to pay their school fees; and so decided to use brute force to collect the money.

Men with bigger penis likely to be cheated on

Men with teeny weenies, rejoice! Your well-endowed rivals are more likely to be cheated on by their wives, according to a recent study.

This may come to a surprise to of the Size Matters school of thought, but according to a recent Kenyan study it seems bigger isn't necessarily better.

The study interviewed 545 married couples in Kenya to decode relationships and explore why women indulge in extramarital affairs
.
Couples were asked to measure the length of the man's erect penis - if their answers were different, researchers took the average of the two measurements - and the results showed that the longer the penis, the more likely the woman was to stray from her marriage.

"Every one inch longer penis increased the likelihood of women being involved in extra-marital partnership by almost one-and-half times," the researchers wrote. "Women associated large penises with pain and discomfort during sex which precludes the enjoyment and sexual satisfaction that women are supposed to feel."

In fact, one woman interviewed for the study told the researchers the following: "Some penis may be large yet my vagina is small, when he tries to insert it inside, it hurts so much that I will have to look for another man who has a smaller one [penis] and can do it in a way I can enjoy."

I was addicted to cybersex

“I’m your typical, middle-class, nose-in-my-books, staying-away-from-home-on-a-tight-budget student. So it wasn’t like girls were lining outside my door. On a particular lonesome Friday night, my friends were out being their age: hooking up, drinking and dancing. And there I was, staring mindlessly at my computer screen.
“On a whim I clicked ‘yes’ on pop-up request that led to a chat room. I started chatting with Nina and we hit it off instantly. We began getting to know each other, general stuff like the kind of food, music and movies we liked.

Next level

After a few ‘online dates’ Nina suggested taking our ‘relationship’ to the next level, where we could express how we’d want to pleasure each other. I was surprised but once she took the lead describing how she’d like to get intimate with me, I began visualizing and was getting turned on.

“Then I told her how I’d like to pleasure her and once we were done, I realised that I had been chatting the whole night and it was time to get ready for class. But I didn’t want it to end, so I bunked class and continued to chat, after all, this seemingly hot girl was interested in me!
“We went at it all day, creating scenarios of how’d we meet, make out, have sex and eventually I started masturbating. Soon I was getting requests from other girls and in a month’s time I had nine online sexual partners.
“By this time I had missed almost three weeks of class and I had stopped meeting my friends and even calling up my folks. How could I explain my new found interest? No one would understand.”
In need of help
“I spent all my waking hours online, having with these easy-to-please women and only took time out for food and the washroom breaks. To these women it didn’t matter if I wasn’t rich or a hunk. I felt God-like — these ladies were at my fingertips, literally, ready to please me!
“I stopped going out completely unless it was extremely important. But even for that short while I’d feel anxious and restless. I would breathe a sigh of relief as soon as my fingers touched the keys and I was alone in my sexual bliss. However, deep down I knew I was lost and depressed. All I needed was someone to help me.
“Thankfully my best friend Suman took it on him to find out what was going on with me. I hesitated at first but I broke down and told him everything. Suman didn’t judge or pretend to understand. He just said ‘You’re obviously addicted and need support. Let’s do some research and find out who can help. But are you sure this is what you want?'”
Back to ‘reality’
“I nodded vigorously in agreement not realising the next few months of therapy would be challenging. I deactivated my profile from all chat rooms and deleted my entire browser history.
“Now I only use the computer for work and for staying in touch with family and friends. I still get tempted but when I feel the urge, I go for a walk, chat with a friend or just go to the library. Most importantly, I’m living my life and not hiding behind a screen!”
